Safeguarding Children Level 2 introduces key areas of safeguarding and is suitable for a range of roles including; administrators, teaching assistants, and early years practitioners. This course will ensure you have up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding policies, legislation and guidance, and includes ways you can reduce the risk of abuse, the signs and symptoms of different types of abuse, and the impact well-known child abuse and neglect cases have had on legislation.

Course description

This Level 2 Safeguarding Children introduces safeguarding as a topic and covers key safeguarding areas such as, safeguarding jargon, working in a multi-agency approach and best practice.

This level 2 course will give learners the knowledge they need to be able to identify the signs and symptoms of abuse and what they need to do if they suspect a child is being abused or discloses sensitive information to them.

We also offer Safeguarding Children Training at Level 3

This Safeguarding Children Level 2 course has been updated to be compliant with new Keeping Children Safe in Education 2022 legislation and how this applies in the workplace or when working with children and young people.

It is a statutory requirement for anyone who works with children to have up-to-date knowledge of safeguarding policies, legislation and guidance so they can proactively focus on keeping them safe from harm and maintain the ability to act on any concerns about the safety and welfare of children and young people.

What is Abuse?You will learn about the different categories of abuse, what abuse actually is and how it can be recognised. This will help make you aware of the indicators of abuse to look out for.
The Impact of AbuseThis section delves into the impact abuse can have on chilren, be it physical harm, emotional ramifications like attachment issues or mental health difficulties such as anxiety and depression.
Early HelpYou’ll learn what early help means, who needs it, and how schools can get involved. We explore the different types of early help so you’ll be able to identify who needs it and when.
Children in NeedThis section explores the many different examples of children in need and the legislations involved. We also look onto the categories of families who are at the highest risk of significant harm. 
Social ServicesYou’ll learn about the role and responsibilities of social services. We also explore multi-agency working and duty to share information.
Reporting AbuseWe explain how vital it is to recognise and understand your professional responsibility to protect those who need to be protected. We show you what do if a child discloses information. 
Referrals and Concerns: The ProcessThis section shows you the sequence of referrals. We explain the importance of taking your concerns seriously. We also explore who is classed as an adult and what adult safeguarding is.
Multi-Agency WorkingYou’ll learn what multi-agency working is, and why it is so important. We look at the functions of agencies in multi-agency working and who could be involved.
Case StudiesWe provide case studies for you to read, now that you have further understanding of the processes and aftermath of abuse in children. We also provide you with helpful resources and information on organisations that can help with further learning.

Who should take this course

This Safeguarding Children Level 2 online course is suitable for a range of roles which includes frequent or regularly work with vulnerable children. Some of these roles may include administrators and reception staff, teaching assistants, nursery staff, early years practitioners and safeguarding teams.

Accreditation

The content of this safeguarding children level 2 course has been independently certified as conforming to universally accepted Continuous Professional Development (CPD) guidelines.

Duration

The safeguarding children level 2 course should take approximately 1-2 hours to complete. The length of time taken depends entirely on how quickly you can study and absorb the material. You can proceed as quickly or slowly as you like, and there is no limit on how long you can take to do the level 2 safeguarding course.

Entry requirements

There are no specific entry requirements for this level 2 safeguarding course.

Test and certificate

The end of safeguarding level 2 training course test consists of 15 multiple choice questions. Learners are required to achieve a 75% pass mark, and, if necessary, may attempt the safeguarding level 2 training test six times at no extra cost.

If learners do not achieve the 75% pass mark, further attempts may be given by contacting our support team.

Learners will be able to download a safeguarding level 2 course digital certificate on completion. This can be printed, and we suggest you keep it for your records.
