The overall learning outcomes of the qualifications cover the knowledge and skills required by teachers in the school education sector, this includes:
These qualifications are aimed at graduates and have been designed to be accessible without artificial barriers that restrict access and progression. However, candidates must meet local regulatory requirements. Entry to the qualification will be through centre application and interview. Learners will be assessed on an individual basis.
Candidates must have an undergraduate degree in a relevant curriculum subject. They must also have attained IELTS Academic 6.0 (a minimum of 6 in reading and writing and 5.5 in speaking and listening). In addition, they must have attained TELLAL Skills Test in maths, English and science (pass) plus specialist subject knowledge assessment that is specific to the route that the candidate has chosen.
The qualification is designed to be delivered over one academic year for full-time study, but it is also flexible in its delivery in order to accommodate part-time and distance learning.
The qualification is delivered face-to-face, through lectures, tutorials, seminars, distance, online by approved centres only.
All units within this qualification are internally assessed by the centre and externally verified by BATHE. The qualifications are criterion referenced, based on the achievement of all the specified learning outcomes.
To achieve a ‘pass’ for a unit, learners must provide evidence to demonstrate that they have fulfilled all the learning outcomes and meet the standards specified by all assessment criteria. Judgement that the learners have successfully fulfilled the assessment criteria is made by the Assessor.
The Assessor should provide an audit trail showing how the judgement of the learners’ overall achievement has been arrived at.
